Analivia Cordeiro (b. 1954, São Paulo, Brazil) is a pioneering Brazilian artist known for her groundbreaking work at the intersection of dance, video, performance, and computer art. Trained as both a dancer and architect, Cordeiro is internationally recognized for her early experiments in video art and motion capture.
Her seminal work “M3X3” (1973) is considered one of the first computer-generated video-dance pieces, where she explored the relationship between the human body and technology using choreographed movements analyzed by a computer program.
Cordeiro’s practice spans video, installation, drawing, and performance, and she has exhibited widely in Brazil and internationally. Throughout her career, she has remained committed to exploring the body as both subject and medium, engaging with feminist, social, and technological questions.
