After moving to Paris in 1957, Luis Tomasello systematically made sketches of his finished works in his personal notebooks, accompanied by all the data –title, date, dimensions, number of elements, color, materials (paint, wood, masonite, formica) –needed to identify them. Sometimes these details included the name of the photographer or collector, and the exhibition date and venue. In this way Tomasello knew precisely what number to attribute to the next works in his Atmosphères chromoplastiques, Lumières noires or Objets plastiques series. He did not, on the other hand, keep his highly schematic preparatory sketches. The titles of his works were always in French, even if the odd word of Spanish sometimes found its way into his neatly written accompanying texts.
