Peter Struycken, in an email dated 15 May 2018: "There are indeed two versions of the work. The one belonging to Benno Premsela is the original. Ger van Elk’s version consists of two parts, as he wanted to be able to hang the work on two walls meeting at a corner.
It therefore needs to be shown as a single whole. The parts can also be hung one above the other. I do not know whether the two parts and Premsela’s complete work are exactly the same length, or whether the colours and the figuration are entirely identical. That would surprise me. The character is clearly the same. It is in fact a ‘post-study’, a term Van Elk used for his own later works. He very much wanted to have the work, and in that context I made it for him and exchanged it with him."
