I am familiar with this work since it was bought at Christie's by a private individual in Devon and then loaned to Tate / Leeds Art Gallery for the travelling Marlow Moss show I curated (first with Tate St. Ives in 2013) 2014-2015. I was put in touch with the buyer at this time by Angus Granlund of Christie's, and met him for the first time in Leeds, when he hand-delivered the work. It later went to another private collection in London, and now to the Mayor Gallery.

It is a remarkable and energetic composition — relating in my mind to Moss's love of ballet.

It has the 'no. 17' to the verso in pencil, although it is not known to what this refers — by its date and dimensions it seems more likely to be no. 14 in the Carus Gallery show.
